Hayden's Review
So I finished Sunao ni Narenakute. I do highly recommend this, but I must warn that this drama contains strong references to sex, adultery, drugs, and suicide.
I doubt I would have watched this if Jaejoong wasn't in it. I don't understand why the ratings were low for an intense storyline.
This drama was mainly about how these people meet online via twitter. They get intertwined in love triangles and drama. Each character has a dark secret that threatens their relationships with each other.
May contain spoilers
Anywho, let me start with Jaejoong who is referred to "Dr" in the drama. His character is really easy to despise. Yes, Jaejoong played a pretty scary character. XD His Japanese is flawless. There were a couple scenes where he spoke Korean-mainly at the beginning and at the end of the series. He has a bad relationship with his parents for unknown reasons. He's not really a doctor, but he sells medical equipment to hospitals. He's often picked on for lacking in sales. In the drama, he has a little sister. They have a strong bond in the series. I found it weird that they communicated in Japanese though-since they moved to Japan from Korea. I think speaking in Korean would have conveyed a stronger bond as siblings.
Ueno Juri's character kinda bugged me. I felt like slapping her so many times for being so dense. She plays Haru, who is the main character. She gets in a love triangle with Dr. and Nakaji. She's a student teacher at a high school and gets into a dangerous situation because of her student. She has a brother who has drug problems. Her mom committed adultery with Nakajji's father in the past.
Eita plays Nakaji, an aspiring photographer. He did really sexy photoshoots-women in bikinis..."dirty magazines." He and Haru didn't get along at first, but then they eventually begin to like each other. He has a girlfriend named Kiriko. He and Kiriko met a few years ago and fell in love. She married a rich man for her family's financial situation. She doesn't leave Nakaji, and commits adultery with him. Kiriko gets jealous of Nakaji's and Haru's strong bond and tries to end it. Nakaji's father is diagnosed with cancer which plays a strong role in his relationship with Haru's mother.
Seki Megumi plays Peach, Haru's best friend. Peach is mentally weak and collapses easily. She was left by her boyfriend (who is married to another woman), pregnant. She attempted to have a one night stand with Linda to move on. She tried to commit suicide. She falls in love with Nakaji-threatening her friendship with Haru.
Tamayama Tetsuji plays Linda, the male version of Peach, as I like to call him. xD He's also mentally weak. He's constantly sexually harassed by his boss. She threatens him with his job status if he doesn't kiss or have sex with her. He is known for his generosity by helping his new friends climb up the career ladder. It is later revealed he is gay, and falls for Nakaji.
Overall, this drama was great. The characters all had their issues. The music chosen was amazing! English songs are present throughout the drama and a couple Japanese ones. One thing I didn't understand was why every one seemed to fall for Nakaji. He has funky hair which I find unattractive. I was also disappointed that Nakaji and Haru didn't discover about their parents' secret relationship. It felt like the parents were included for...nothing!
The ending wasn't satisfying. There wasn't really a conclusion. =/ They should've worked on that more.
