I went there when i was 13 and my experience before i started breakdancing was boring XD i didnt do much since to me back then it looked boring now i started breaking and seeing a lot of breakdancers in vietnam i want to go back plus cheap stuff back there =P

I went to Vietnam like 6 years ago when I was about 11/12 (x
I stayed there for 6 weeks, some of the time in nha que (dunno if thats spelt right) and some in the city. I didnt like the toilets when I stayed in nha que D: Was just a hole in the ground, and you have to flush it yourself by pouring water in it '___' I also didn't like showering there as I felt self conscious because the bathroom was in the back yard and it wasnt exactly a room, the door was a wooden door that didnt go up to the ceiling, if I was taller at the time, I think people would have seen my head while I was showering =/ I remember one time they were doing something to a pig where they cut off the sex organs right outside the bathroom when I was showering and I could hear and see some of peoples heads o___O Oh and the showering; there was no shower head or anything, it was just a bucket of water and a little thing to get the water with to splash it on your body. And the hot water you had to boil it with fire and wood like they did in olden days. I think because we're so used to living in western countries we dont actually think these things still happen. I think we're so lucky to be living where we are now.

Anyway, Im meant to be talking about how was it and now I babbled on to something else. So lemme carry on xD Visiting my mother's friends and family was good. It was nice to see relatives there. Oh and we went with this tourist guide thingy so that was fun and the hotels were so much better with toilets and showers that Im used to. And some of the beaches were really nice. But one of the bad things for me was the heat =____=" Oh and also the amount of dogs =/ Like you would go in the pho shop and people throw the bones on the floor so while you're eating there would be dogs crawling in between your legs O_O That was the worst part for me as I have a major phobia of dogs. But they didnt bark much which was good. Oh seeing the kid's walking the chicks was cute too (x It's like something out of the traditional films that I never thought I would see. If I went around this age, I think I would have enjoyed it more and see the more cultural side of it. Would have been a great experience if my brain was more developed, but at the age I went I think I was more worried about having fun and looking at hot guys xD

So yeah, I had a good time xD

i went to vietnam in mid dec 2008- mid jan -2009 four weeks withi my girlfriend at that time and another couple..none of us have ever been back before so we were in for a surprise.. we bought the lonely planet travel book which was very helpful and thanks to two of us knowing vietnamese we were fine. we all had an amazing time from going to saigon, nha tran and ha tien. we went during christmas and new years and they know how to party haha

the bars/clubs there are amazing with there great service...i know most of the crowd here at au is underage but for people that are of age you would have a blast. id go into detial but it would take up this whole thread so people be free to ask

people who think of going in the future go back! recommdended, its a really great experience learning the history of vietnam and seeing where ur parents and grandparents coming from and the stuff there is so cheap you only needed roulghy 1000 spending money for food, accomdations and gifts..we didnt want to come back at all

im planning on heading back in may 2010 with friends

I've been about four times... going again in three weeks. Can't wait to go, but as soon as I stay for three weeks.. I can't wait to leave. hahaha
