SHINee challenges "1 vs. 100", Displays Knowledge Way Beyond Their Years
translated by amourette @ soompi Currently promoting their hit song "Juliette", idol group SHINee went on KBS's quiz show "1 vs. 100" as members of the entertainers team. In this show, they displayed their hidden quiz talent/strengths. SHINee members Onew, Key, and Minho answered questions regarding traditional proverbs, literature/stories, and current events without any hesitation, thus dispelling the the common idea that "young people are ignorant". During round two, which was a one on one round with Mr. 김어흥, their skills/abilities at answering quiz questions were an eye-opener to all. Throughout all of the questions, SHINee always chose the correct answer, showing that their knowledge was way beyond their years. In this game show, where one wrong answer will get you out immediately, high school students Key and Minho were able to continue/stay on till the very end -- a result that surprised many. This episode of "1 vs. 100" will be shown on KBS2TV at 9PM on August 4th. ============== Ah, the boys are so smart! ^_^ |

SHINee will finally debut in Japan!
Just a reminder... because it's just around the corner. But SHINee just maybe SM Entertainment's replacement for TVXQ, that is if they can't resolve their issues soon. KJnet officially announced that SHINee will be visiting Japan on the 10th of August to hold a fan meeting at Nigano Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo. In addition, a Japanese album is said to be dropping pretty soon. TVXQ fans don't kill me, but we all know what's happening here... more to come, very soon! 2PM and SHINee unites to grant you your wish
While the horde of girl groups are going about their mix and match special, there will be something planned for fangirls as well this Sunday on SBS Inkigayo as they aim to make sure that all their viewers regardless of sex are entertained. To coincide with Inkigayo's Summer Break Special, current MCs and 2PM members, Wooyoung and Taecyeon will link up with SHINee members, Key and Taemin for a project called Project Girl Group. Notice a question mark black silhouette member standing in the middle of of the picture above? Well, that's a mystery member and a way to build up the hype ahead of this Sunday's performance. Super Junior Kim HeeChul to show support to SHINee TaeMin with cameo drama appearance
Super Junior Kim HeeChul shows support to junior SHINee TaeMin with cameo drama appearance on MBC sitcom ‘TaeHee HyeGyo JiHyunie’. Kim Hee Chul was at the filming set for the drama on 3rd August and participated in the drama filming. The reason why he did the cameo appearance was for his junior SHINee TaeMin. The 2 are known as ‘celebrity lookalikes’ and it will be a fun episode on ‘Tae-Hye-Ji’ with the 2 of them appearing together. SHINee Answers Questions During Japanese Fanmeet
SM Entertainment's new boy band SHINee has traveled out side of their home land of South Korea ( which has a population of 48,379,392 as of July 2008 ) . They went to japan to answered questions from their fans about love, life, girls, food, teenage heartbreak, and their careers. Meanwhile, they also had a meeting with the aformentioned fans. Q1. Their response when they knew that they were coming to Japan? Jonghyun said that he was very surprised at first, he never thought it would be so quick before they would come to Japan Q2. Any members been to Japan before? The members say that only Minho has been in Japan before. (MC said something about coming after 5th Grade (I think referring to Minho), asking if he had any impressions about then) then apparently Minho paused or took a while to answer and in anticipation, the crowd went ‘crazy’. Q3. After coming to Japan what is their feelings? Onew: Seeing so many people support us now makes me very touched Taemin: (Something) very tasty/yummy (to eat) Jonghyun: Japanese like to say “so desu ‘ne’”. that “ne” sounds a lot like in Korea, when we reply “ne” meaning yes, yes. (LOLLL) Minho: Really very happy. Key: To see so many fans here, I am very surprised/delighted; I have all along liked some Japanese dramas and artistes Q4: Who among the members is most likely to get married first? All members point to Key. Key said it’s because he really wants a Key, like a mini Key. The MC said to everyone that he’s still not yet at the marriage age, so to calm down/not to worry. Q5: Who cries the most Everyone simultaneously pointed at Jonghyun. the time when most recently cried? Key said that when Juliette was first released/comeback stage. Mc asked Jonghyun something about the crying, and Jonghyun said that he will remember that day for life, the gratefulness he felt /felt touched. Q6. Who can eat well/eat most? Apparently it is Minho. Jonghyun and Key resent/complain that Minho eat a lot and eat very fast, but yet his built is tall and will not grow heavy/fat. Minho said that its he likes to make things neat/clean, but he likes the feeling of neatness. Key said that Minho loves to organize/make neat (and something which I couldn’t understand) Q8: Most fashionable member? Everyone chose Key, but Key chose Minho. Jonghyun said that Key is very interested in current fashion and will make/arrange himself his accessories, like today’s rings and etc. Q9. The member best at studies? Onew. He was 2nd in his whole school. MC asked him whats his secret and he said “Eat more eat, read books well, sleep well”. Jonghyun immediately that that he also did that, but why not effective? (LOL) MC asked if he had any favourite subject. Onew said he more or less enjoyed almost everyone. MC also asked what subject he is best at then. Onew said it was riding a bicycle. (ROFL) Q10: The member who wakes up earliest Minho. Minho said that he only wakes up earlier than the other members by half an hour. Onew said that its because Minho and Taemin need to go school, so not everyone can wake up at the same time and go out at the same time. Seohyun and Key are Awkward
On this week's Star Golden Bell, Girls' Generation / SNSD's Seohyun (God bless her soul) admitted to some awkward relations with fellow SM Entertainment member Key from SHINee. She admitted, "Although we are the same age, Key and I still only use formal speech (Korean has an informal and formal way of talking) when we talk to each other." When asked, Key also agreed, "We didn't even say hello to one other until I was 4 years into training." When SNSD won a music show with their single "Tell Me Your Wish / Genie", Key said he got a high five from Sooyoung, but only recieved a 90 degree bow from Seohyun. Seohyun promised on the show that she would try harder to get closer to Key and hoped that the two could become closer and become better friends in the future. This is not looking good for us Seomates. Let's hope Key gets over his fear of the Ice Princess and gets closer to her instead. An MTV Iggy Interview with Shinee
Writer Edward Chun scored an interview with Shinee, the latest and hottest SM Family boy-band to capture hearts and set trends on Korean streets. He wanted to get to know the real kids behind the manufactured magic, but things, however, did not go as planned… The SM Entertainment building in the trendy neighborhood of Apgujeong was rather less than impressive, considering this was supposedly the K-pop version of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. The drab, faded yellow exterior could easily escape one's attention, and it was hard to believe that behind these walls, some of the hottest bubblegum pop acts were being carefully primped and trained for public consumption. At promptly 3PM, I was shuffled in to a large practice room, complete with widescreen TV, a few stylists, and five boys who were dressed to the nines and, if I'm not mistaken, wearing base and eyeliner. Something made me feel like this was not to be a live interview, but rather a well-rehearsed promotional commercial. My list of questions had already been censored by their manager. His reason for cutting out my query into how the band dealt with anti-fans (which he told me with a completely straight face), was that Shinee didn't have any anti-fans…so I knew going in that I wouldn’t be allowed to pull off something like Martin Bashir’s exposé of Michael Jackson’s personal life. Still, the band's ability to reel off rat-a-tat answers, doused with just the right mix of humility and "Awe, shucks, I'm just glad to be here" charm, made my jaw hit the floor. Shinee masterfully deployed all the responses necessary for a successful interview in which you learn absolutely nothing about the interviewees: It took hard work to get here – check. We all get along – check. I was given thirty minutes to do the interview. Thanks to Shinee's efficiency, we finished in twelve. My favorite singer, who has also served as an inspiration, is [fill-in-the-blank with appropriate SM star] – check. (One member managed to roll off three groups from SM's roster in his answer.) An obligatory nod to a recently deceased American pop icon as an incredible artist – check. These kids were clearly pros. The most penetrating moment of the interview came when I asked them for the good and bad points of being a K-pop star. At first, they couldn't think of any bad points. Later, one member said he missed his parents and liked to call them. Another member then stated that the worst thing was not being able to call his parents enough. A murmur of agreement rippled through the group. I looked down to see that my hand was writing, "boys next door love their parents," happily independent of my brain. I was given thirty minutes to do the interview. Thanks to Shinee's efficiency, we finished in twelve. I had earlier suggested to management that we should try shooting video of the interview (hence the makeup). Shinee's manager agreed, but when I later asked for a few candid shots of the members, he turned me down. At that point, I realized that in this stage play called "An Interview with Shinee," I, too, was playing a role and it sure as hell wasn't journalist. I had become a part of SM Entertainment, if only for a half hour, and my character's name was Staff. SHINee Onew, “JaeBum will definitely come back”
Amidst of the criticisms against 2PM JaeBum, SHINee member Onew comes out to say, “JaeBum will definitelycome back” getting the attention from fans and netizens. SHINee Onew has recently posted up a message to a fan about 2PM JaeBum who has left 2PM and also Korea on 8th September recently 4 days after the controversy from the revelation of his pre-debut messages posted on MySpace. He wrote on UFOTown site, “JaeBum will definitely come back, himnae! 2PM is 7 members after all” when a fan posted a message to him “Oppa…What will happen to JaeBum, this is unbelievable”. Meanwhile, fans are currently on a quest of ‘Saving JaeBum exercise’ after JaeBum left Korea for the states. About 60 2PM fanclubs handed up a union petition on 10th September saying, “Withough JaeBum, 2PM cannot promote on.” And there was an outrage on how JYP Entertainment has not done anything for their idol singers in such as situation. SHINee’s fanmeet attracts over 1500 fans

South Korean boyband SHINee arrived in Taiwan for the second time last night, promoting for their newest mini-album . Back with new dance routines and playing games with their fans, the SHINee fanmeet attracted more than 1500 Taiwanese female fans. SHINee is scheduled to stay in Taiwan for only 25 hours, and after hastily taking a Korean style lunch in their hotel shortly after arrival, the five boys immediately rushed to the location of the fanmeet. The scale of the event was comparable to that of their sunbaes, Super Junior, when they were in Taiwan for the Golden Melody Awards, and the fact that fans had started queuing up as early as 4 AM in the morning did give SHINee a shock. The five members were still relatively shy when introducing themselves in Chinese, but the fans’ high energy during the game was infectious, and Onew even fed the lucky winner a slice of mooncake. The members all professed that they would be spending the Mooncake Festival (Chuseok in Korea) with their families and will be, according to tradition, making songpyeon to mark the occasion. SHINee leaves Taiwan; 200 fans rush to say goodbye

The members all seemingly have become experts in the unique game of , created by staff members using the main-point dance movements of . Not only did they constantly do the actions, they even complemented the game by saying “Nuna oh Nuna” in Chinese, and SHINee also wishes to hold a concert in Taiwan someday. SHINee arrived in Taiwan on the 19th, and attended an Azio TV programme whereby they had mooncakes, pomelos and Taiwanese cuisine. The five boys liked the sweet-and-sour pork ribs dish, along with braised pork best, saying that they were very “tasty”. On the 20th, more than 200 fans flooded the airport to send their idols off. Even as SHINee entered customs, they still repeatedly pounded on the glass to make the boys take a glance back, leading the customs security to remark, “This is just like the zoo.” |

SHINee finishes Overseas Promotions
The 5-member idol group, SHINee, recently finished their Asia promotions. They first started the tour in Japan's Osaka, then visited Thailand-Bangkok and Taiwan-Taipei through the week. Around a total of 20,000 fans welcomed them, showing that they are a true Korean star. On the 14th, in Japan Osaka's Castle Hall, SHINee had a "SHINee JAPAN 2nd MiniLive&Fanmeeting", which had 2,500 fans attending it. They performed their hit-songs "Noona is so Pretty (Replay)" and "Love like Oxygen". Each member also showed their talent through a personal stage with TaeMin playing "River Flows In You" in piano and MinHo singing a rap version of "Noona is so Pretty", while JongHyun also sang "Snow Flower" (by Nakashima Mika) in Japanese. On the 17th, in Thailand Bangkok, they took part in "Korea-Thailand Friendship Concert" in Park Paracon, performing in outdoors. They performed, "Nona is so Pretty", "Amigo", "Juilette" and "Scar". The performance here was a hit as well, as they had 15,000 fans attending. On the 18th, they performed again in Bangkok, this time in Grand EGV Theater, for their event "SHINee meets juliettet in Bangkok". They shared this special memory with 1000 fans attending. SHINee’s Key Enjoyed His Break
Now back to their full schedule, Key of SHINee seems he had really enjoyed his time off! SHINee really needed this break. On top of their recent promotion of 'Juliette,' SHINee also took the positions of MC for MBC Every1's "Flower Generation Boys." After being chased by their hectic schedule, it's understandable that they needed a break. It looks like Key was enjoying his vacation to the fullest. Now legally an adult, Key decided to take his much needed time off by freely roaming around various shops. SHINee will be making a comeback after a 5 month long absence from the K-pop scene. SHINee will release their new mini album titled "2009, Year of Us" on October 19th and start their promotions. This will mark their third mini album with their last being, "Romeo" in May 2009. Expectations have gone high after their success with "Juliette", "Nuna, You're So Pretty", "Amigo", and "Love like Oxygen". This mini album will contain a new SHINee style and show their individuality which will help differentiate them from other male idol groups. Not only that, they will also show off their hidden vocal talents. SM Entertainment stated, "We have finished recording the title song and had completed the music video filming on October 8th." SHINee’s Jonghyun Reveals New Album Look
We revealed earlier that the heartthrob of nunas, SHINee, would be making a comeback on the 19th with their 3rd album titled '2009, Year Of Us'. Starting from the 9th, individual photos of the male idols flaunting their new image are to be released to the public one at a time. We start off with the unveiling of Jonghyun. He has attracted much attention from the public with his recent change of hair color, which gradually fades from a brown tone at the top to a lighter shade at the bottom. His overall concept is suggestive of a gothic style with a glam&chic look, appearing to be unrestrained and liberal, yet is one that leaves a deep impression on viewers. Donning a monotone style of clothing, he reveals a novel fashion sense that has yet to be seen in the k-pop scene. In particular, fans are all the more curious to witness a more mature change in the 5 boys as opposed to their bright and colorful image from their previous album. They also expressed great interest in SHINee's new style of music, as the teaser for the 3rd mini album is expected to be revealed on the 13th. As each does go by, a different member of SHINee will reveal their new look and today's the day for young Taemin. Taemin sports a look that is radically different than before. With a new hairstyle, he looks a lot older and more mature. SHINee’s Onew Reveals New Album Look
...and dayum, a certain boy group's leader is looking good. Say goodbye to SHINee's Tofu boy and welcome a revamped and resplendent Onew! I'll admit, I've always been more of a 2PM fan than SHINee World... resident (or whatever fan club members call themselves), but these photos are definitely an upgrade. Shedding the soft and colorful image from before, Onew is revealed sporting a short 'do and exuding a tough charm that has drawn much attention from the public. Check out that porcupine style, it's like the stylist was going for a mohawk but changed his/her mind 30% of the way in. What do you think of the overall concept, yay or nay? SHINee's upcoming 3rd album will also include Onew's first solo track titled "The Name I Loved", which blends the common ballad genre with a hint of alternative rock. The song, which describes the pain of a forbidden love, features the artist Kim Yeon Woo, whom Onew has always respected as a sunbae. Onew express, "To work with a respected sunbae like Kim Yeon Woo is truly an honor and I was able to learn a lot from him. I am very thankful that he was able to contribute to my first solo song and I hope many people will enjoy listening to it." We reported earlier on news of SHINee's new come back song "Ring Ding Dong" and of Onew's new look. Concept photos of Minho's new look has now been released, raising anticipation and eagerness for the upcoming album '2009, Year of Us'. It seems Minho hasn't made as big of a shift as Onew but he does definitely look more mature, dark, and charismastic.
